Welcome to via Assisi

At Via Assisi, everything flows from a deeply Catholic heart. Rooted in the spirit of St. Francis, St. Clare, Blessed Carlo Acutis, and the many saints of Assisi, I offer space for you to step away from the noise of daily life and enter a sacred rhythm.

My pilgrimages and retreats are centred on daily Mass, communal and personal prayer, and reflection on the lives of the saints. Each experience is designed to nourish the soul and invite a deeper encounter with God.

This is a place for those seeking more — more stillness, more meaning, more of God. Whether you're walking the hills of Assisi, kneeling in a quiet chapel, or contemplating the witness of the saints, you're invited to journey at a prayerful, intentional pace.

Come as you are. Walk with the saints. Leave renewed in faith.

FAQs

Do I need to be Catholic to take part?

Via Assisi is rooted in the Catholic tradition, with daily Mass, prayer, and devotion at the heart of every experience. Anyone who respects this spiritual focus is warmly welcome.

I have some mobility limitations. Can I still participate?

Time in Assisi often includes walking on hilly, uneven stone streets. All pilgrims to Assisi should be reasonably fit and comfortable with moderate walking. If you have mobility concerns, please reach out so we can discuss what’s involved. But, yes, of course you can still participate.

Do I need to come with a group?

Not at all. Many people come alone and find community among fellow pilgrims. Whether you come on your own or with others, you’ll be welcomed into a prayerful and supportive environment.

Is accomodation included?

The price of the accommodation is not included but, I will arrange the booking for you. You will pay for your accommodation separately. You’ll stay in peaceful, comfortable guesthouses in the centre of Assisi often run by religious communities. Spaces are simple, clean, and suited for quiet reflection.

Do you offer short 1 or 2 day experiences?

Yes. In addition to multi-day experiences, Via Assisi also offers personalised day retreats and spiritual walks. If you're already in Assisi or nearby, feel free to contact me for availability.

About me

I’m Gwen Wiseman, aka @GwenofAssisi, a former UK-based professional who left the corporate world to follow a call to deeper prayer, simplicity, and service in Assisi, Italy.

For the past seven years, I’ve lived in this sacred town, serving as Music Director for the English Masses at the Papal Basilicas of San Francesco and Santa Maria degli Angeli. I also work with the Diocese of Assisi on international projects, including relic missions for Blessed Carlo Acutis in the UK and Ireland.

I'm the author of two devotional books (Pray the Rosary with Blessed Carlo and Living Lent with Blessed Carlo) and lead Catholic retreats and spiritual pilgrimages, helping others encounter God through the peace and witness of the saints of Assisi.

Via Assisi is my way of sharing that calling — offering space for prayer, reflection, and spiritual renewal in one of the most beautiful and grace-filled places on earth.

Thank you for being here. I hope this space helps you walk your own journey with greater stillness, faith, and joy.
