Why we walk with the saints

At Via Assisi, everything begins with the saints — ordinary people who responded to God with extraordinary love.

Whether it’s St. Francis embracing radical poverty, St. Clare surrendering everything in courageous trust, or Blessed Carlo Acutis offering his everyday life to Jesus, each one reminds us that holiness isn’t distant. It’s possible. It’s for now. It’s for us.

The saints show us what it means to follow Christ with real lives — not just in theory, but in action. They are not distractions from Jesus; they are signposts pointing us to Him, helping us stay focused on the path of grace.

Of course, we pray directly to Jesus — He is the heart of our Catholic and Christian faith. But just as we ask friends or family to pray for us, we also ask the saints to intercede for us. As members of the communion of saints, they are alive in Christ and close to us in love.

Think of the saints as companions on the journey. They’ve walked this road before — faced questions, doubts, and suffering — and still chose faith. Some lived in bold public witness; others in hidden simplicity. But all of them show us that sainthood is not reserved for the few. It’s the invitation given to each of us.

We don’t worship the saints. We honour them, learn from them, and ask for their prayers — just as we would ask a trusted friend to walk beside us.

We walk with them toward Him.

Wherever you are on your journey, may you find here the encouragement, wisdom, and peace to keep walking — step by step — with the saints.
